Improve Productivity With Caffeine
Concentrated Caffeine
Caffeine runs this world. It is the world’s most acceptable addictive drug and one that people unknowingly boast of the hold it has on them. Given caffeine’s innate ability to increase your energy and your focus, it makes sense. But I want to offer you a new framework to help improve your relationship with caffeine and ultimately set you apart from those who rely on morning coffee. Let’s dive in.
What is Caffeine for?
Caffeine is a productivity enhancer. In the late 90s companies started promoting daily Coke breaks due to the surge in productivity that the caffeine fill soda would bring to their company. These companies found that their employees could get more done in one hour if they spent the first 15 minutes drinking a Coke (and not working) than they could if they just continued to work for the full 60 minutes. Fast forward to today and some people will not even let you speak to them until they have had their first cup of coffee.
By implementing the concept of Concentrated Caffeine we will be able to stop using caffeine to maintain our average productivity and go back to using caffeine to boost our productivity.
Implementing Concentrated Caffeine
The way I have implemented Concentrated Caffeine into my life is by asking myself, “What do I need to accomplish with this caffeine?” With the benefits of caffeine typically lasting for 4-6 hours I set my focus on the task at hand and get to work. This intentionality will allow you to avoid cheap caffeine and reserve your most productive time frame for your most important tasks. The key is to use caffeine to boost your productivity not maintain your current energy levels. For most, this means a significant decrease in caffeine usage but I can ensure this will be worth it.
Beyond Caffeine
Caffeine is a relevant example but in your life, this concept goes beyond caffeine. The goal is to be uncontrolled by anything in this world. Our natural desires often lead us to a life filled with comfort and pleasures but it is our job to discipline our desires to strive after what is objectively best for ourselves. Disciplining our desires is an act of loving ourselves that is essential to tapping into our unlimited potential. Start today by intentionally choosing to rid yourself of automatic habits that are not leading you to your best self.
Summary
A simple rule to follow: Never accept cheap dopamine. Instead use dopamine as it was originally designed, as a reward mechanism. Treat yourself to a dessert only if you have worked out today. Watch your favorite show after a productive day at work. Craft a cup of coffee after you have clearly defined what you want to accomplish. The world is addicted to cheap dopamine. Take a stand and set yourself apart from your peers by using dopamine and not abusing it. Then watch as you positively separate yourself from those around you.
Go out. Make a difference.
