Unexpected Teachers
When we think of teachers we associate it to a person yet majority of our greatest learning moments came from experiences.
The biggest lessons we have learned in life come from experiences far more often then they come from people.
Therefore, how do we identify these experiences and uncover the unexpected teachers in our lives?
Unexpected teachers reveal themselves to those who take action.
Reading a book about building resilience will give you the information about resilience.
But training for a marathon will give you the skill for resilience.
Information and skills are not the same.
Teachers give information but experiences build skills.
The unexpected teacher comes through a failure that cost you something.
The only way failure costs you, is if you first risk something.
But that is the price of developing a skill.
Right now the unexpected teacher in my life is grit and resilience.
Everyday I am asking myself what is grit and resilience trying to teach me.
How can I prove to myself that I am becoming more resilient everyday?
By identifying the unexpected teacher, I can start learning the lessons they are trying to show me.
What is the unexpected teacher in your life right now?
It can be patience, peace, joy, endurance or any area you feel like you are being challenged in.
Instead of running from it, ask what you can learn from it. Then take action and watch the unexpected teacher show up.
Go out and make a difference.
