The Stonecutter

"When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that last blow that did it, but all that had gone before” - Jacob Riis

We, as individuals, are focused on achievements.

We care more about the stone being cut than the process it takes to cut the stone.

But it is only by committing to the process that we are able to achieve something great.

Growth happens gradually, then suddenly.

You cannot go to the gym for a week and expect to see results.

You cannot spend more than you make and expect your savings to grow.

You have to put in the work without knowing when the results will come.

But when the results do come, they come fast.

It is the actions you take or don’t take every day that create your life.

What stones are you hammering?

Are you hammering the stone of Tik Tok? Then welcome the brain rot.

Are you hammering the stone of the gym? Then welcome the six-pack.

Ben Wilson, author of the podcast How to take over the World, says, “You are rewarded in public, for what you practice in private.”

What are you practicing in private and do you want to be rewarded for it in public?

Go out and pound the stone. Go out and make a difference.
