The Fool.

This is one of the first pieces of art that has moved me to my core.
This artwork is found in Jordan Peterson’s book Beyond Order: 12 More Rules For Life and is titled The Fool.
At first glance, you see the young man with his head in the clouds about to take his final step off of a cliff.
Or is he?
As he stands on top of the world, what if his strength is in his willingness to risk the drop?
To start back at the bottom of another mountain?
In the Tarot Deck, which is cards used my mystics and fortune tellers in which I personally do not believe in… The Fool is considered a positive card.
It is a positive card because the fool is associated with the beginning of learning.
It is this desire to be the fool that will allow you to reach the mountain top.
The young boy in the picture has his sights set on the sky. Every step he takes is in confidence knowing that even if he falls and has to start at the beginning he will be better for it.
The question this picture ask is “Where have you stopped learning?”
What area of your life have you grown complacent in your competencies and are not willing to climb the next mountain?
Albert Einstein famously said, “Once you stop learning, you start dying.”
It is today’s beginners that turn into tomorrow’s masters.
Do not be afraid to risk the fall.
You will not be able to learn if you are unwilling to become a foolish beginner.
This concept ties back to Being the Dumbest Person In The Room.
As Differentiators, let’s continue to scale mountains and lets never stop embracing the humility that it takes to start over.
We are built to learn and to grow, in order to do that we have to embody the mindset of a beginner.
We have to become the fool so that we can become the master.
