Who Are You Inviting?
The Power of Invitation
Invitations are one of the most powerful tools you can leverage to be set apart. The power of an invitation has changed my life; with a little bit of intentionality, it can change yours too. Let’s Dive in.
Honoring People
A good invitation leaves people feeling honored and valued. When you invite someone to an event, a gathering, or even to check out a podcast, you are inviting them into something you think will add value to their life. Whether they choose to accept it or not is on them but even if they do not accept it I bet they felt honored by your invitation.
Invitations Lead To New Experiences
The majority of things I have come to love have all been introduced to me by an invitation. Whether it was my first mentor inviting me to go rock climbing or my friend’s dad inviting me to smoke my first cigar. I would have never had the opportunity to experience these activities if it were not for a simple invitation. When you invite you open a world that the recipient has not yet been exposed to. An invitation is a powerful tool that unfortunately is not used very often.
Create Spaces To Invite
When I talk to people about the power of an invitation they usually object with not having an event or space to invite people to. That is when Differentiators start creating spaces to invite people to.
To find the space you want to invite people into start asking yourself what you feel like you are missing in your life. For example, during the pandemic lockdown, I was missing fellowship. Instead of waiting around and hoping I would randomly find community again I opened up my backyard and invited my friends to a weekly fireside chat. This simple act created one of the worst situations (the pandemic) into a beloved memory that I would do anything to be able to repeat.
Take A Step
Where are you on this journey? If you have an activity, hobby, or event to invite people to then use the power of invitation and open people’s world with a new experience. If you do not have those then ask yourself “What would I want to be invited to?” then create it.
Summary
Be set apart by creating and inviting people into new experiences. If your world has been changed by an invitation then return the favor and start inviting others.
Go out. Make a Difference.
