Have you ever had a conversation with someone who was fully present?
They kept eye contact. Faced you directly. And listened intently.
Sometimes someone can be so present in a conversation it almost makes you feel uncomfortable.
They aren’t looking around, checking their phone, or thinking about what they are going to say next.
They are completely there with you.
I think one of the reason that can make us uncomfortable is because of how rare it is.
Who is actually able to be fully present in today’s day?
We have too many chores, activities, needs, and wants, to think about.
Our minds can easily gravitate to what has passed or what is to come.
But staying right here, right now, in the moment, is much harder.
This present moment is all that matters.
You cannot change what you have done in the past.
You cannot predict what you are going to do in the future.
But you can decide what you are going to do right now.
I want to be the person who makes people feel slightly uncomfortable because of how present I am.
Be the person who brings their full self to every conversation, hangout, meeting, and party.
I want to be exactly where I am. All the time.
Being fully present is hard. It is about focusing on what you can control.
And not worrying about what is coming next.
It is a skill we can develop.
And if you are struggling at being in the present, you always have another chance.
Go out and make a difference.
