“My dear boy, either increase your sacrifices or reduce your desire. It is simple.” - Grandpa.
I have heard it said that true genius is found by making complicated concepts simple.
Albert Einstein simplified the understanding of gravity and the structure of our universe into a way that the common man can now understand.
George Washington saw throughout history that absolute power corrupts absolutely and decided to step down as president of the United States setting a precedent that still last to this day.
Our Grandpa here, takes the complication of life and boils it down to a simple decision.
Increase your sacrifices or decrease your desires.
Whether you like it or not, this is how the world works for the vast majority of us.
This is one of the laws of life.
Like most laws there are always exceptions.
Someone hits the lottery, an investments 100x, a far removed rich uncle passed away and you are the recipient of his wealth.
While that would be great, chances are we are not the exception.
Sacrifices are what moves progression and fuels growth.
When our desires outpace our sacrifices it leads to entitlement and bitterness.
We feel like we our owed something because we want it.
This is a dangerous game.
I believe the hardest part about increasing your sacrifices is that you often times are unaware of the amount of sacrifices it will take to reach your desires.
You are running on a race without knowing where the finish line is.
But that is the concept we not only have to endure but embrace in order for our sacrifices to outpace our desires.
The life we dream of has a price and the payment is sacrifices.
I’ll leave you with a question: Do your sacrifices out pace your desires?
Go out and make a difference.
