I have been afraid of anger.
Angre is one of the emotions that tends to carry the most consequences.
It is the root of saying hurtful words, being rude, and sometimes even violence.
So I have tried to stay away from it.
Until recently.
While anger can lead to regrettable actions.
That does not mean the emotion should be thrown out or completely suppressed.
It just needs to be controlled.
I think I have been afraid of anger because it feels uncontrollable.
Anger often comes when something you value is being threatened. Causing the anger to rise.
But what you do next is what matters the most.
Anger gives us two things: direction and motivation.
It gives us direction by showing us what we truly care about.
If you start to feel anger it is because you believe something is wrong that shouldn’t be wrong.
Whether that is right or not is up to you to decide. But your anger gives you the direction.
Anger also gives you a burst of energy that is motivating.
When you start to notice that something is wrong, anger comes up to help you correct it.
It is a quick jolt of energy to help you get back on track (hopefully).
This jolt of energy is also where anger gets a bad reputation.
This motivation, provided by anger, could lead you to regrettable actions that have consequences.
Or if it is controlled and aimed properly, it could be the spark you needed to finally start making a change.
Anger has the ability to propel you and derail you.
Anger can be dangerous. Anger can be beneficial.
Anger can’t be suppressed. It has to be used.
Might as well listen to it and try to use it to our advantage.
Go out and make a difference.
