For Your Tribe

As the holiday season comes to an end we start to enter my favor part of the year.

We say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year with lofty goals and high ambition.

We spend our time, attention, and energy on what we want to accomplish in the new year but we often neglect the how and the why behind our goals.

Typically causing us to bail on new year goals by the third week of January.

By neglecting the why behind our goals we set ourselves up for failure.

Your habits are only as strong as your why.

When excuses comes it is your why that gives you the strength to overcome it.

By bullet proofing our why we harness our true motivation.

Motivation is easier in the beginning of year. Everyone is excited and ready for this year to be the year that changes everything.

But the strength of their why determines how long they will pursue their goals.

How strong is your why? How long will your why drive you?

Practically, finding your why can be very simple.

By channeling our inner toddler and asking ourselves why 4 times, in regards to our goal, we can strengthen our why.

Goal: I will be the top performing sales rep in my company.

Why? Because I want to be promoted and recognized.

Why? Because a promotion means I get a raise and can start leading and training other reps.

Why? Because I want to abundantly provide for my family and help others succeed.

Why? Because I love my family and want to give them as many opportunities as possible. I also find deep satisfaction in helping other people succeed.

From my experience, every time I do this toddler exercise I always end up at my Tribe.

We are consistently growing, learning, and developing for our Tribe.

So that we can be the best spouse, parent, employee, boss, etc.

Your why becomes stronger when you consider how achieving your goals will effect the people you love the most.

As we welcome the new year I challenge us to spend more time on our why than our what.

Let us be people who wrestle with the hard truths and find our motivation. Lets find and strengthen our why this year and watch as we fly pass our goals.

Go out and find your why. Go out and make a difference.
