Your attention is your superpower. And everyone wants it.

Everyone and everything is screaming at you all day in order for you to pay them your attention.

I have always wondered why we said the verb “pay” when we reference attention.

It is because your attention is a currency, and it’s probably your most valuable one.

If attention is a currency, then it leads to a question:

What are you buying with your attention currency?

We have a limited amount every day and it matters how we use it.

The hardest part about being intentional with your attention currency is the daily distractions.

I can’t even tell you how many times I have sat down to read and ended up scrolling on my phone instead.

Distractions destroy. Do whatever you can to limit distractions.

DND, screen time passwords, put your phone in lockbox. All great solutions if your willpower is running low.

By avoiding distractions we can focus on spending our attention currency wisely.

I have found that a simple digital kitchen timer is extremely effective for me.

I set the timer for 30 minutes. Place it in front of me. Phone goes on DND. Headphones in. Outline a single tasks. Then get to work.

All that matters is that we are using our attention currency to pursue what is best for us.

But before we do that we have to first value our attention.

Go out and make a difference.
