The other day my sister asked me “what makes you feel strong?”
This question puts a unique twist on the basic “what are your strengths?” questions.
One question is a boring interview and the other is a killer ice breaker.
If someone asked me what my strengths are, I would rattle off the basic traits like leadership, communication, and time-management.
But when my sister asked me what makes me feel strong, I had to get more specific in my answers.
Similar questions yet very different responses.
As I answered my sister’s question, I noticed that everything that made me feel “strong” were things that gave me life.
I feel strong after completing a hard workout, finishing a thought provoking book, or reaching one of my goals.
The things I feel strong in are the things I am proud of doing.
Now that is not to say we should only do the things that make us feel strong.
I have plenty of newsletters about failing and failing fast.
I think a healthy balance of both is appropriate.
There should tasks in your day that make you feel strong.
And there should be challenges in your day that push you outside of your strengths.
The goal is to find the balance.
To let your “strong” tasks give you the confidence and energy to tackle the ones that make you feel weak.
Go out and make a difference.
