What is the most important quality for someone to possess?

We could easily rattle off a dozen qualities that are respectable and desirable.

Disciplined, kind, strong, caring, intelligent.

Sure, all of those qualities are great but without courage their effect is minimal.

Courage is the foundational quality that makes your other qualities stronger.

Courage is a foundational quality because everything starts with courage.

In order to be disciplined in a skill, you have to have the courage to start.

To be kind and caring in a relationship, you first have to go introduce yourself to start the relationship.

It all starts with courage.

What is interesting is that courage only exists because of failure.

That is what courage is.

Courage is moving forward despite the risk of failure.

It doesn’t take courage to ask a girl out if there is a 100% chance she is going to say yes.

It takes courage because there is a real fear of rejection.

We are scared of failure.

But we should be more scared of being a coward.

Failure is a part of life.

Anybody who has accomplished anything has failed.

It is universal and unavoidable.

That doesn’t mean we should avoid it and not take any risk.

It means we should stop giving it so much power and expect its arrival.

When we know failure is coming and we know that we will respond with courage,

then failure just means you are one step closer to success.

That is the mentality we should take.

I’d rather be a failure than a coward.

Go out and make a difference.
