Discover Hidden Wisdom
You are wiser than you know. Most of our day-to-day problems can be solved without any external assistance and in a timely manner if we can tap into that hidden wisdom inside ourselves. Here is one way to tap into that hidden wisdom. Let’s dive in.
Have you ever offered a ride to someone and right before they get into the car you all of sudden start noticing how dirty the inside of your car is? The empty water bottles and Chick-fil-A trash have resided perfectly inside your blindspot or more accurately you have grown accustomed to the accumulation of trash that it no longer bothers you. That is until a new set of unaccustomed eyes notices the problem and lifts the veil that has been covering your trash.
Purposeful Awareness
That experience is what I like to call “getting new eyes” and it is the first step into releasing the hidden wisdom you have. But you do not have to wait until your friend notices the trash inside your car to receive your new eyes. Instead, put yourself into the spectator position and observe what it would be like to get into your car for the first time. By switching to the spectator position you will be able to uncover your blind spots and move on to address the problem at hand.
Action > Everything
Who cares about revealing your blind spots if you are not going to do anything about it? Being aware of the problem does not solve your problem but tangible actions will.
Stress is often associated with the tasks know you should do but you have not done yet. Therefore one of the reasons for our stressful lives is due to a lack of action. That is the hidden wisdom we need to tap into. Wisdom is often defined as knowledge implemented and as we continue to set ourselves apart we must act on the information we take in.
Practicals
Before you do anything that others will set their eyes on make sure you have first switched to the spectator seats and have received new eyes. This can be inviting friends over to dinner or sending an email to your boss. Use this simple trick to help uncover the hidden problems in your life then attack the problem with tangible actions.
Wrap Up
I continue to hold a higher and higher conviction that intentional action is a key differentiation between the good and the great. By implementing this framework into your life you will be able to gain new eyes and uncover the problems you need to action on to help reduce the build-up of stress.
Go out and action. Go out and make a difference.
