Complexity Kills
Life is complicated.
Between scheduling your day, going to work, working, driving home, being present, making dinner, putting the kids to bed etc.
A single day can be filled with thousands of complicated activities that we have grown accustomed to.
We fight through the complexity of the day and, in return, feel exhausted at night.
Leaving us with no brain or willpower to do anything other than call it a day -just to do the same thing once we wake up.
But what if we could simplify just a couple areas of our lives to help us alleviate this complexity?
I think there are two types of complications.
External complications: These are outside of your control.
Internal complications: These are within your control.
You can’t necessarily control the crisis at work or all the hoops you have to jump through at the DMV - these are external complicatoins that you have to manage.
But internal complications are where we can simplify in order to thrive.
We can control how we organize our sock drawer so we don’t spend an extra 10 minutes looking for that elusive missing pair.
We can simplify our kitchen so we don’t have to run through every cabinet looking for that one spice.
Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, was infamous for his dedication to simplicity.
He believed simplicity led to the ultimate sophistication.
We see that in the design of the iPhone all the way to his iconic “uniform.”
By simplifying the small things, you can focus on the big things.
You can free your mind by simplifying your life.
It just takes a little bit of effort to make a big impact.
Go out and simplify. Go out and make a difference.
