Choose Your Type of Hard

 Choose Your Hard

Life is hard. People often look at their lives and wish it was easier, they wish to live a carefree life with no worries in the world. Not only is that not even possible, it is not something we should strive for. Let’s dive in.

The Dichotomy of Hard

While we cannot avoid hard things in our lives we can choose the type of hard we partake in. For example, working out and staying in shape is hard and so is being overweight and out of shape, which hard do you want to choose?

Creating a budget and living below your means is hard but so is spending 100% of your paycheck and not saving for your future, which hard are you choosing?

The list of examples is endless because life is filled with challenges. The question we ask ourselves needs to change from “How can I make life easier?” into “Which type of hard do I want to engage with?”

Do I want to struggle every morning lifting weights, going for runs, and watching what I eat or do I want to skip my workout, eat whatever I want, and be dissatisfied with my physical appearance? Both are hard but which hard will you accept?

Choose Your Hard Wisely

We use this framework of thinking to help motivate and empower the complacent side of our bodies. By equipping ourselves with the proper mindset we can turn our natural tendency to make life easier towards engaging with disciplines that make us better.

As Differentiators, we are willing to choose the correct hardship. We are willing to sacrifice immediate benefits for long-term success. We count the cost of our actions and make decisions that properly love our future selves back

The next time you are faced with a challenge ask yourself “What hard am I choosing by doing or not doing this activity?” The answer to the question is a sobering reality essential to fulfilling your unlimited potential. Choose your hard wisely.
